Sastry Durvasula is the Global Chief Technology and Digital Officer, and Partner at McKinsey & Company. Sastry leads the strategy and development of the Firm’s differentiating digital products and platforms, internal and client-facing technology, hybrid cloud, data & analytics and AI/ML. He serves as ex-officio member of Technology & Knowledge Committee, and expert advisor on client engagements.

Previously, Sastry was Chief Digital Officer and Chief Data & Analytics Officer at Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk adviser. He was responsible for creating the company’s digital strategy from ground up, building a dynamic global team and launching new digital-native platform businesses and incubators including Bluestream digital broker, Marsh Digital Labs and Blue[i] risk analytics & AI suite.

Before Marsh, Sastry was Enterprise Head and CIO of Data & Digital Technology at American Express, where he led the strategy and development of innovative products, platforms and experiences across the lifecycle of cardmembers and merchants including digital payments, pay-with-points at checkout and the company’s multi-petabyte big data and AI/ML ecosystem. Previously, he worked as a technology consultant at Fortune Global 500 companies.

Sastry is a strong advocate for diversity & inclusion, chairs #McKTech D&I, and is on the Board of Directors for Girls in Tech, the global non-profit dedicated to eliminating the gender gap. Sastry also spearheaded #ReWRITE, an industry-wide initiative focused on Women, Risk, Insurance, Tech & Empowerment.

He holds a Master’s degree in Engineering, is credited with 30+ patents, plays a leading role in industry/academia consortia, and has been the recipient of several industry awards.
