Tim McAdam, TCV

Tim joined TCV in 2010 and focuses on investments in the enterprise software, security, and tech-enabled services markets. His current investments include Alarm.com (NASDAQ: ALRM), Avalara, FinancialForce, and Rapid7 (NASDAQ: RPD). His prior investments include Splunk (NASDAQ: SPLK) and TOA Technologies (acquired by Oracle).

Tim was previously a partner at Trinity Ventures, a leading early- to mid-stage venture capital firm, where he focused on investments in the software and security sectors. Prior to Trinity, Tim was a vice president at GTCR in Chicago and started his career in the early 1990s at TA Associates in Boston.

Tim was born and raised in the greater Boston area but has failed in getting his three children to share his love for New England sports teams. As they frequently point out, the Bay Area sports scene has more than enough to offer. Tim showed signs of entrepreneurship at a young age by parlaying his paper route and lawn mowing money into a fireworks “dealership” that was highly profitable yet ultimately shut down by his father. He enjoys rugby (just watching these days), golfing, skiing, fly fishing, and other outdoor activities with his family, as well as contemporary fiction.

Tim received his M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and graduated with a B.A. in Classical Archaeology from Dartmouth College.
