Steve Blank discusses the origins of both "Lean Innovation" and "Lean Startup" concepts.

Transcript

The lean innovation concept starts with the lean startup components that we’ve kind of refined over the last five years or so. It’s built on Alexander Osterwalder’s work of business model design, my work in customer development, and Eric Ries’s observations in that you need to combine all of this with what’s called agile engineering way to build products iteratively and incrementally.

These three components: business model, customer development, and agile engineering make up what’s called the lean startup. which by the way was the cover of the May 2013 Harvard Business Review, which said the lean startup changes everything. Anybody who is interested could get a copy of that on my website, steveblanc.com.
