Getting to the desired business end state, especially to be an as-a-service digital business, requires having a partner who will work through all the post-implementation issues. These issues include organizational design and support, business process support—all the operational elements needed for the as-a-service business.

Importance of Consulting Partners

It’s all about more open collaborations to get there. You never get into an as-a-service type of delivery situation if you don’t have a partner who is willing to work with you to get there.

Now, there’s plenty of providers today that will say, hey, we will give you fantastic tools and technologies and everything on tap. But are they truly going to help you get from where you are today to shift to that direction in the future. Very challenging. We work a lot with Workday for example, talk to any HR professional today and you mentioned the term “Workday” their eyes light up. They have got to have this SaaS driven dream of having a Workday driven environment.

But finding a partner who is going to get you into that Workday end state is really challenging, because it becomes a business transformative impact and not a technology transformative impact. So, most providers who can come in and slam your Workday in, leave you to your own devices to optimize it. It’s finding that partner who can do the post implementation, organizational support, and things like that. That’s another example on the types of partnerships and conversations that you need to be having to be effective.
