Enrique Ibarra Biography

Enrique Ibarra Anaya is CIO and Director of Systems, Transformation, and Business Transformation at GNP Seguros, Mexico's largest insurance company, a role he has held since 2015. At GNP, he leads an integrated function spanning IT, business transformation, AI, data science, process reengineering, and innovation, with initiatives including a full migration to Google Cloud, a BigQuery-based corporate DataLake, an alliance with Palantir Foundry for AI-driven fraud detection, medical claims, and underwriting analytics, enterprise-wide adoption of Gemini, and a partnership with Blitzy to advance autonomous software generation across the development lifecycle. He was named CIO of the Year in Mexico by Information Week in 2011.

Over more than 30 years, Enrique has led large-scale digital and business transformation across insurance, financial services, and telecommunications. He served as CEO of Maxcom Telecomunicaciones from 2013 to 2015, directing a post-acquisition turnaround that included organizational restructuring, sales redesign, a new product portfolio, and a full replacement of core IT systems with SAP and Netcracker, and as CTO of Grupo Bolsa Mexicana de Valores from 2005 to 2013, where he built the Dalí securities settlement system, recognized with the Franz Edelman Prize for its payment netting algorithm, and the MoNeT trading platform, which ran 400x faster than its predecessor and lifted daily trading volume by 40%. 

He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Civil Engineering (Computer-Aided Engineering and Robotics) from Carnegie Mellon University, with research in knowledge-based expert systems, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from UNAM.
