Pete Tseronis Biography

Pete Tseronis is the Founder and CEO of consulting firm Dots and Bridges, LLC. He was the former Department of Energy’s first Chief Technology Officer. In that role, Pete was responsible for providing strategic direction and vision throughout the Department and is charged with establishing a formal and sustainable federal technology deployment program that offers secure transformative innovative solutions to tough challenges.

Pete served as the executive sponsor of the Department of Energy’s Information Technology Strategic Roadmap, a document recognized as the authoritative guide for all future Department information technology initiatives.

Pete was directly responsible for conducting the first ever Department-wide crowdsourcing initiative that identified technologies that could best support mission programs. Applying these bridge-building principles, Pete helps foster innovative programs such as Innovation and Technology Summits. The aforementioned summits share information on new technologies and partnership opportunities across the Department, fostering an agile methodology for technology pilots, as well as leading enterprise programs to investigate and plan the deployment of services across Department and activities focused on citizen engagement.

Pete focuses on identifying opportunities for secure enterprise IT transformation, including cloud computing services, geographic information systems, and mobility solutions.

Recognized as a thought leader and transformation agent across the Federal government for the IT environment, Pete effectively communicates the importance and impact of information management and technologies in supporting federal mission objectives. As the Department’s Chief Technology Officer, Pete is instrumental in addressing the divide among the public and private sectors and ultimately helps ensure that Department has the most secure innovative services available to support its mission.

Pete was engaged with numerous policy interagency initiatives where he represents the interests of the Department and incorporates best practices into Department IT management practices. As a result of his dedication, Pete has been asked to lead numerous federal initiatives, such as Federal Cloud First Task Force, the deployment and enhancements to energy.data.gov, as well other activities to mature Federal IT Infrastructure, including chairing the Federal IPv6 Task Force.

Prior to joining the Department, Pete served as the Chief Technology and Director of Network Services for the U.S. Department of Education. During his tenure as the Chief Technology Officer for the Department of Education, Pete was responsible for a multi-million dollar budget to transform divergent voice, video, and data communications into an enterprise-wide collaboration solution.

Pete received his B.A. in Communications from Villanova University and earned his M.S. in Information and Telecommunication Systems from Johns Hopkins University.

Pete began his federal career more than 20 years ago and his leadership, transformational skills and results-oriented approach have been recognized through numerous awards, including being a three-time recipient of Federal Computer Week’s Federal 100 Award.
